A Stone's Throw Away

Vi møter tre 13-årige gutter fra Deheishe flyktningeleir utenfor Betlehem, som vokser opp under israelsk okkupasjon. Vi følger barna gjennom deres hverdag i en verden hvor det abnormale er blitt normalt. Historien fortelles fra barnas synsvinkel, og vi får et tett og nært innblikk i livet og tankene til tre unge gutter som til tross for sin unge alder har vært vitne til at flere venner er drept. Hvordan påvirkes barna av forholdene de lever under og hvilke tanker har de om fremtiden?

We meet three 13 year old boys from Deheishe refugee camp outside Bethlehem, who grew up under Israeli occupation. We follow the children through their daily lives in a world where the abnormal has become normal. The story is told from the children's point of view, and we are given a close and intimate look at the thoughts and lives of three teenage boys who, despite their young age have witnessed the killing of several of their friends. How is a child influence by the conditions in which they live, and what thoughts do they have about the future?
Om regissøren:
Line Halvorsen har utdannelse fra Universitetet i Trondheim og Dokumentarfilmlinja i Volda. Hun bor for tiden på Vestbredden, der hun sammen med fotograf Tone Andersen jobber med dokumentarfilm. Tidligere filmer hun har hatt regi og klipp på er: ALENE MED AIDS (2002), PÅ HESTERYGGEN OVER AUSTRALIA (2002) og BAK KAMERA MOT 71 GRADER NORD (2000).

The director:
Line Halvorsen was educated at the University of Trondheim and Documentary Department at Volda. She resides at present on the West Bank where, together with Photographer Tone Andersen, she makes documentaries. Among the films she has directed and edited are ORPHAN VOICES (2002), HORSEBACKING AUSTRALIA and BAK KAMERA MOT 71 GRADER NORD (2000).
