Funkis

Funkis er en film om 1950-tallet. Det er både en barndomserindring, og et forsøk på å fange inn tidens rytme. Gjennom arkivklipp skaper Jan Knutzen et morsomt og spennende tidsbilde. Det er, som filmen selv antyder, ´en film uten altfor mye funksjonalismeª, men funksjonalismens framtidshåp er likevel et av motivene i filmen. Funkis er en tidsmaskin, en oppdagelsesreise tilbake til Oslos hemmelighetsfulle funkishus, og et spennende essay om tiden og historien.

Funkis is a film about the fifties. It is a recollection of childhood as well as an attempt to capture the rhythms of that time. Through archive footage Jan Knutzen creates a funny and exciting portrait of the times. It is, as the film itself suggests, ´a film without too much functionalismª, but functionalism’s hopeful attitude towards the future is still one of the motifs of the film. Funkis is a time machine, an exploration of the mysterious ´funkisª houses of Oslo, and an exciting essay about time and history.
